Australia: Norton Rose wins Law Firm of the Year - City A.M. Awards 2012

Leading international law firm Norton Rose has won the award for Law Firm of the Year at the City A.M. Awards 2012, held at the Grange Hotel in London on the 17 October 2012.

Norton Rose won the award for its recent international expansion into Canada, South Africa and Latin America, achieving growth from its overseas combinations; in addition to retaining a strong UK practice with the work of its real estate team on the development of iconic London landmark, Battersea Power Station, particularly highlighted.

The City A.M. Awards look at a variety of sectors with the aim of singling out the highest achieving businesses, teams and individuals and are judged by an expert panel of the most influential people in the UK financial business community. The panel this year included:

  • David Hellier, Deputy Editor City A.M.
  • Roland Rudd, Chairman; RLM Finsbury
  • Sir Roger Carr, Chairman of Centrica & President of the CBI
  • Alison Carnwath, Chairman, Land Securities

  • Simon Mackenzie Smith, Director of Corporate & Investment Banking, Bank of America Merrill Lynch
  • Phil Raper, Chairman of Corporate Broking and Co Head of UK ECM
  • Nigel Boardman, Partner at Slaughter and May
  • Katherine Garrett-Cox, Chief Executive of Alliance Trust PLC.

The shortlist for Law Firm of the Year 2012 was comprised of Norton Rose, Allen and Overy, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith and Linklaters.
