At group level Intertrust is 25% bigger than its nearest competitor with offices in 29 jurisdictions around the globe, including Guernsey.

The island benefits from a stable political system at a time of global uncertainty, a well-earned reputation for excellence in financial services practice and an extremely high bar for transparency and compliance - all factors that Intertrust values.

Guernsey's importance has prompted the group to make significant investment into the jurisdiction, including appointing a new management team to equip the office for continued success in the future. With a client-led service offering private wealth, corporate services and fund administration services, Intertrust in Guernsey is an important jurisdiction within the Intertrust Group.

The new leadership team, comprised of well-known names in the financial services industry including Alison Parry (Private Wealth) and Amit Taylor (Corporate Services), is charged with making the most of the Guernsey office's high-quality employees and mature service offering to grow the business and work with Intertrust offices around the world for the benefit of its global client base.

Collaboration not competition


A new management team isn't the only development for 2019; closer collaboration between Intertrust's Guernsey and Jersey offices has been formalised with the creation of a Channel Islands Executive Leadership team. This is primarily recognition that the Intertrust teams in both islands face similar challenges and opportunities and these can best be met with a united front that allows each office to draw on the expertise and skill set of the other.

Instead of being viewed as competing islands, clients and external advisors will be encouraged to regard Intertrust in the Channel Islands as one offering which can meet complex needs through collaboration and scale. This client-led move brings Intertrust in line with the expectations of our global client base and provides those clients with a seamless service that makes the most of our expertise across the islands.

Guernsey goes from strength-to-strength


Guernsey's strengths in financial services are well established, but the island has never been complacent and is always looking to be at the forefront of evolution in the sector. Whether that is through legislative changes, the launch of a new Guernsey Green Fund designation or employing technology to enhance the island's financial services offering.

Intertrust is no different as we seek to take advantage of our global footprint to make our Guernsey office one of the leaders in the field. The firm is increasingly deploying digital solutions to make clients' lives easier and certainly, the firm's client portal across all services lines is a differentiator in a competitive market.

The digitalisation of the business is one of the big group priorities for 2019 and the aim is to provide increasingly mobile clients with real-time access to data, the business and Intertrust's people.

Face-time isn't just a digital concept however. Group CEO Stephanie Miller has visited the island three times in the last 12 months, a level of senior visibility that not many other firms can match. These visits include 'town hall' meetings where all employees get the chance to ask questions about where the business is going and Guernsey's role in the journey.

This collaborative culture is reinforced by our global mobility programme, which offers employees the chance to undertake placements and secondments in Intertrust offices around the world. Furthermore, the emphasis on sharing knowledge for the good of the group means that if someone in Guernsey has a specialism that is urgently required elsewhere, they will be offered a group role in a bid to share that expertise. For example, a Guernsey employee now has a group role in IT and works from Amsterdam to ensure Intertrust's clients across the world benefit from his skills, honed here in Guernsey. Likewise other Group roles are based in Guernsey to diversely reflect the skill set of specific employees.
