Clayton Utz named Corporate Law Firm of the Year at Capital CFO Awards

Sydney, 14 August 2012: Clayton Utz has been named Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the 2012 Capital CFO Awards, winners of which were announced last Friday, 10 August.

The Corporate Law Firm of the Year award is judged against a range of criteria, including: significant client wins and lateral hires; initiatives to improve the firm's internal culture and performance, and delivery and quality of service, and; initiatives undertaken to improve industry standards and educate the corporate community.

The judging panel for the award commended Clayton Utz for its programs to "continuously monitor and improve the quality of [their] lawyers work", as well as initiatives to improve internal culture, performance and client service.

Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Darryl McDonough said the award reflected the firm's continuing efforts to be the firm of choice for clients and employees. "The hard work, commitment and professionalism of our partners and employees is without doubt a major factor in this terrific result; so to is the support of our clients, who continue to instruct us on their business critical and strategically significant matters; we thank them for their loyalty and support."

As well as winning Corporate Law Firm of the Year, Clayton Utz had key advisory roles on the following deals which won their respective categories:

  • M&A Deal of the Year: Centro restructure;
  • Project Finance Deal of the Year: Wiggins Island Coal Terminal;
  • Hybrid Issue of the Year: Woolworths $A700 million Notes II;
  • Private Equity Exit of the Year: Archer Capital Exit of MYOB.
