Australia: Middletons 'young gun' recognised at national law awards night
Last Updated: 1 August 2012

Middletons lawyer Ajay Khandhar has taken out the Trudie Rogers Medical Lawyers Young Gun Award at this year's Lawyers Weekly Awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the profession and his enthusiasm as a workplace relations and safety lawyer.

The Young Gun Award recognises excellence among lawyers in their first three years of practice. Ajay's strong experience in prosecutions under OHS legislation, his experience presenting to practitioners and his contribution to NSW Young Lawyers helped him outshine nominees from Baker & McKenzie, Squire Sanders, DLA Piper, Fox Tucker Lawyers and Kah Lawyers.

Commenting on Ajay's success, Middletons Workplace Relations and Safety national practice group leader Alice DeBoos said, "This is a great achievement from one of our top young lawyers. It is great to see our home grown talent being recognised for their dedication and professional attitude. We look forward to helping him continue to thrive and contribute to the profession."

Ajay himself was honoured to be recognised saying, "It's a great feeling! I was up against some extremely talented lawyers so it is a real honour to have even been nominated.

"I have a strong interest in promoting legal education and access to justice and it's wonderful to work for a firm that supports me to achieve this. I look forward to continuing my work in the profession and hope I can continue to make a difference."

The Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards showcases the country's top talent and recognise the best legal individuals and teams who can prove a commitment to best practice, leadership, innovation and community participation. A high calibre panel of judges examine all nominations to determine the winners in each of the 12 categories.

This year Middletons has also been awarded the 2012 EOWA Employer of Choice for Women and Employment Firm of the Year at the 2012 ALB Australasian Law Awards.
