We sat down with Charles and David to understand what drives them as lawyers, individuals, and valued members of our Gluckstein Lawyers family. See our interview highlights with both Charles and David below:

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?

Reliability, trustworthiness and accountability.  These are all important skills that help me advance my clients cases and help me connect with my clients and their families on a personal level.

What are some causes you care about?

The top three causes that I hold closest to my heart are the environment, preventing youth violence and safety for everyone in our community.  I make a point of holding these causes in the forefront of my mind and I try to give back to them as much as I can.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don't know about?

I am a dedicated Triathlete, an outdoor enthusiast, and have a love for dogs. My wife would also tell you that I'm a very bad guitar player, which really is a talent in its own way!

Is there anything I haven't asked about that you think we should know?

Most importantly, I'm a family man. I have been married to my incredible wife for 19 years, and we have three beautiful children together.  We are a very tight-knit family and I always look forward to spending quality family time together.

Knowing what you know now about your job and legal career, what piece of advice would give to yourself if you could go back in time?

Always be thinking ahead, and keep actively planning for the next five years to come.

What is the most difficult and the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most difficult piece is, without a doubt, telling victims of a life-altering accident that they, unfortunately, do not have a successful case. That never gets easier.

The most rewarding?  Helping restore dignity to victims that have lost almost everything, and continuing to connect with them through their journey of recovery and rehabilitation. We believe in full-circle care and being there with our clients all the way through.

What is one thing you have learned during the course of your cases that has always stuck with you?

Your name is the most important brand that you have. Stay honest with yourself, the Court, counsel and your clients so that you can be trusted at your word, with utmost integrity and respect.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?

Compassion, sensitivity, understanding, and skill.

Name three words that you describe you.

Low-key, conversational, and even-tempered.

What are some causes you care about?

The causes which stand out most for me are health and environmental sustainability, family, and civility.

Do you have any skills or talents that most people don't know about?

I am an editor, an amateur pianist, and have a penchant for sarcasm and humour.

What is the most difficult and the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most difficult? Navigating cultural barriers and idiosyncrasies, and understanding them so that, in turn, my clients are understood and represented with integrity.

The most rewarding aspect is seeing an injured client's challenges reduced or eliminated through their successful receipt of compensation that addresses their needs and dramatically improves their lives.

What is one thing you have learned during the course of your cases that has always stuck with you?   To under promise and over-deliver. An important part of my job is to manage expectations and guide clients through a very difficult time. There are few things more rewarding than surpassing expectations and providing life-enhancing closure to victims through the results of a successfully concluded case.
