Australia: Clayton Utz expands energy and resources team with new partner
Melbourne, 6 July 2012: Leading law firm
Clayton Utz has expanded its national energy and resources
capability with the appointment of Jonathan Li as a partner in its
Corporate practice, based in Melbourne.
Jonathan has broad-ranging domestic and international energy and
resources experience, with a particular focus on the mining
industry. He has provided strategic commercial advice to a range of
clients in the energy and resources sectors, including on M&A
private treaty transactions, public takeovers and schemes of
arrangement, FIRB approvals, joint ventures and shareholder
agreements, as well as on equity capital markets transactions,
restructures, international treaties and the application of foreign
bribery legislation.
Clayton Utz national Corporate practice head Graham
Taylor said Jonathan's experience would complement the
firm's strong energy and resources service offering to clients.
"Clayton Utz has broad-based upstream and downstream energy
and resources capability on both the eastern and western seaboards,
including the largest dedicated energy and resources practice in
Queensland. We have also continued to expand our capability in
Perth, reflected by the appointment of oil and gas specialist John
King as a partner in November 2011, and the promotion of
Adel van der Walt and Brett
Cohen to the partnership on 1 January 2012.
"Jonathan's appointment will add further weight to the
services we provide to clients in the energy and resources sectors,
and will particularly benefit our Melbourne-based energy and
resources clients who will have access to market-leading experience
on the ground."
Clayton Utz Chief Executive Partner Darryl
McDonough said Jonathan's appointment also continued the
strategic expansion of the Clayton Utz Melbourne office over the
last 18 months, which has included the lateral recruitment of Stephen
Moulton (Corporate), Michael
Linehan (Corporate), Stuart
Pill (Workplace Relations & Safety) and Dan
Trindade (Workplace Relations & Safety) as partners, and
the promotion of Damien
Gardiner (Environment & Planning), Richard
Hoad (Intellectual Property) and
Nicholas Tsirogiannis (Construction & Major Projects).
