UK: Carne Publishes UCITS IV Guide For Alternative Managers
Last Updated: 29 May 2012

Popular manual for fund managers returns in UCITS IV edition

28 May 2012 – Carne Group, the specialist provider of fund governance and support services for the global asset management industry, has published a brand new edition of its popular UCITS Guide For Alternative Managers. This comprehensive booklet, authored by Carne's in-house team of UCITS experts, is an ideal primer for fund managers interested in the possibilities offered by the UCITS IV directive.

The new guide has been updated to take into consideration changes made to the European funds regime by the UCITS IV directive. Apart from the requirements of the Directive itself, it also looks at mission critical considerations for alternative fund managers considering a UCITS launch, including:

  • What investors are looking for
  • The right location for the fund
  • Distribution opportunities
  • Risk management
  • The role of service providers

Said John Donohoe, CEO of Carne Group: "We've seen growing interest in UCITS on the part of alternative fund managers since we published our first UCITS guide. With this publication, we've set out to explain what fund managers need to be thinking about when they go down the UCITS IV route, helping them to avoid many of the common pitfalls that could delay a fund launch."

With offices in both Ireland and Luxembourg, Carne has worked with some of the largest launches of alternative UCITS funds in recent history. It offers governance solutions for self-managed funds and management companies, in particular experienced directors resident in both jurisdictions. Furthermore Carne also provides fund registration and project management solutions for UCITS and alternative investment funds.

Said Thomas Nummer, Managing Director with Carne in Luxembourg: "When considering a UCITS fund launch it is important that a fund manager looks at all the aspects involved. This guide is a great starting point for this. Rather than just being a regulatory guide, it also has important information on many of the operational aspects fund managers have to consider. It is this practical element that made its predecessor so popular as well."
