Australia: Clayton Utz celebrates success at 2012 ALB Australasian Law Awards

Sydney, 25 May 2012: Clayton Utz has advised on three awards winning deals at the 2012 ALB Australasian Law Awards held last night at Sydney Town Hall.

Clayton Utz took home three Deal of the Year awards for our key advisory roles on the following transactions:

  • Centro Restructure: Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year (Melbourne Corporate partner Brendan Groves, and Melbourne Litigation partners Fred Prickett and Paul James).
  • Origin Energy's A$2.3 billion capital raising: Equity Market Deal of the Year (Head of Equity Capital Markets Stuart Byrne - Sydney)
  • Wiggins Island Coal Terminal Development: Project Finance Deal of the Year (Brisbane Energy & Resources partner Keira Brennan and Brisbane Construction partner Stephen Fall).

Clayton Utz's Corporate managing partner, Graham Taylor, who attended the evening said the award-winning deals reflected Clayton Utz's breadth of talent across legal practice areas, across the country.

"The three deals won by Clayton Utz represent work completed by our Melbourne office, our Sydney office and our Brisbane office. In addition the award-winning deals reflect the breadth of talent we have across practice areas covering litigation, project finance and capital raisings. The Origin Energy in-house team were awarded the E&R In-house Team of the Year and went on to collect the Australian In-house Team of the Year Award. To complete their evening, Daniel Krutik was also awarded In-house Lawyer of the Year.
