Melbourne, 10 May 2012: Clayton Utz Construction & Major Projects lawyer Robert Kovacs has been awarded the Gold Medal Prize in the International Insolvency Institute's 2012 Prize in International Insolvency Studies.

The Prize is awarded for original legal research, commentary or analysis on topics of international insolvency and restructuring significance and on comparative international analysis of domestic insolvency and restructuring issues and developments. Entry is open globally to full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students and to practitioners in practice for less than eight years.

Robert's winning paper titled, A Transnational Approach to the Arbitrability of Insolvency Proceedings in International Arbitration, considers the approach adopted in Australia, England, Switzerland and the United States to the arbitrability of insolvency proceedings in international commercial arbitration.

Robert said he was honoured to have received the Gold Medal Prize: "International arbitration is an area of law which I am passionate about and I am delighted to have been invited to deliver a synopsis of my paper to delegates at the 12th Annual International Insolvency Conference next month," he said.

Robert will present his paper at the International Insolvency Conference's 12th annual conference to be held in the Cour de Cassation in Paris on 21 and 22 June.
