Australia: Moore Stephens Bolsters Capabilities in Sydney
Last Updated: 3 May 2012

Moore Stephens Sydney Managing Partner, Stephen Humphrys, today announced the appointment of four former BDO partners into the Sydney firm with immediate effect.

The addition of the four partners will add significant weight to the Audit & Assurance team with John Gavljak and Melissa Alexander joining the firm; it also adds a new specialty with the creation of a new Corporate Recovery service line following the appointment of Trent Hancock and Michael Hird.

"We are delighted to have the new partners join our practice. Their appointments reflect our desire to strengthen our capabilities across key practice areas in support of our strategic goals. We have a major emphasis on cultural alignment and the strength that comes from a unified approach to business. From the outset, the four partners have impressed us with their need for a firm that also values honesty and integrity combined with entrepreneurialism and innovation."

John Gavljak brings over 18 years' experience and is a recognised leader in providing audit, business services and consulting services to the automotive industry. John will be working closely with the Moore Stephens Australia network, particularly following the recent appointment of Brett Fowler to the Moore Stephens Melbourne practice. He also has experience in the area of family business, retail, consumer and industrial products and has a passion for working in the SME environment.

Melissa Alexander has over 20 years' auditing experience within the profession. She provides audit and advisory services across a number of sectors including property, not-for-profit, retail, manufacturing as well as technology, media and communications. Moore Stephens has a strong reputation in the property and not-for-profit sectors and Melissa's appointment will further enhance our position.

Trent Hancock has in excess of 20 years' experience in corporate recovery. Likewise Michael Hird has over 20 years' Insolvency experience, including a secondment to the National Australia Bank. Together they have developed a strong reputation in the mid-tier market and look forward to connecting with the other service lines available within the firm, such as sell-side advisory, valuation and tax structuring. Both have worked with numerous clients over this period including all major banks, lenders, accounting and law firms.
