Australia: Six Middletons partners awarded accolades in 2012 Australia's Best Lawyers guide
Last Updated: 3 March 2012

Six Middletons partners have been listed in this year's Best Lawyers guide, one of the oldest and most highly-respected peer review guides in the legal profession.

The guide is compiled annually by international legal benchmarking organisation Best Lawyers using a methodology designed to capture the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geography and practice area.

This year sees a number of Middletons partners listed as best in their field:

Mark Dobbie Alternative dispute resolution Melbourne
Fiona Melville Energy Sydney
Andrew Chambers Insolvency and Reorganisation Melbourne
Greg Couston Insurance Sydney
Gerard Phillips Occupational Health & Safety Sydney
Penny Stevens Occupational Health & Safety Melbourne

Middletons national managing partner Nick Nichola said, "As Middletons continues to grow its national footprint, it is fantastic to see an increasing number of our partners appear on this list. The latest results are a good indication of our depth of expertise across many areas of law and highlight to me that the Middletons brand in the marketplace is stronger than ever."

Middletons continues to defy market conditions and expand its profile, most recently through the firm's merger with respected Brisbane firm Flower and Hart.

"The merger gives us a truly national footprint and strengthens the scope of the Middletons service offering through an even stronger team of exceptional lawyers dedicated to providing the best client service," added Mr Nichola.

Middletons also featured throughout the recently published Chambers Asia-Pacific. Gerard Phillips, Fiona Melville and Kate Marshall were listed as leaders in their field in employment, energy and natural resources and intellectual property: trade mark and copyright respectively.

About Best Lawyers

Inclusion in Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review. The methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.

Best Lawyers employs a sophisticated, conscientious, rational, and transparent survey process designed to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services. There belief has always been that the quality of a peer-review survey is directly related to the quality of its voting pool.

About Chambers

Since 1999, Chambers has been researching the legal markets of over 180 countries, identifying the leading lawyers and law firms worldwide through interviews with thousands of lawyers and their clients. Chambers reputation is based on the independence and objectivity of the research it conducts.

In addition to the 'country' listings, certain practice areas are covered in 'global' listings, and pan-regional listings (Africa, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East).
