Australia: PCT Patent Applicants Have A New Licensing Opportunity For 2012
Last Updated: 6 January 2012

John Forster and Greg Whitehead

Are you looking to license your technology? Good news! There's now an easy way in which to reach potential licensees.

For applicants of international patent applications filed under the PCT ("PCT applications") there will soon be a new feature available allowing applicants wishing to announce their interest in licensing their technology to third parties to do so via the International Bureau's PATENTSCOPE website.

The new feature will be available to PCT applicants from 1 January 2012.

It will be possible to submit a licensing availability request at any time from the filing date of the international application until the expiration of 30-months from the earliest priority date. The licensing indications will be published in the bibliographic data relating to the particular application on the PATENTSCOPE website and will be freely accessible by the public.

This feature will be available to applicants of new PCT applications filed after the commencement date, and to current applicants where the period of 30-months from the priority date has not expired.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this new feature of the PCT system or would like to discuss any other aspect of licensing your technology, please contact us here at Shelston IP.

Shelston IP can assist you with all your licensing needs.
