Australia: Third edition of Construction Law in Australia launched at Clayton Utz
Last Updated: 30 September 2011

Sydney, 29 September 2011: A new, revised version of the authoritative legal text Construction Law in Australia was officially launched at Clayton Utz in Sydney this week, drawing praise from His Honour Justice Hammerschlag of the New South Wales Supreme Court.

His Honour officially launched the third edition of the text to an audience of around 60 guests at Clayton Utz's new 1 Bligh St offices in Sydney.

The authors of the text are Professor Ian Bailey SC and Matthew Bell. Ian is a member of the NSW Bar and Matthew is a Senior Lecturer at the Melbourne Law School and, on a part-time basis, Professional Support Lawyer to the Construction and Major Projects Group at Clayton Utz. Ian and Matthew are also the Co-Directors of Studies for the Construction Law Program at the Melbourne Law School.

Construction Law in Australia is widely regarded as one of the most authoritative and accessible legal texts on the law relating to building and construction in Australia, both for experienced practitioners as well as non-lawyers and students and other construction industry professionals such as engineers, architects and builders.

Mr Bell said the revised text aimed to present readers with a comprehensive overview of construction law, from front to back end, in the practical context in which the industry operates.

The national head of Clayton Utz's Construction and Major Projects practice, Doug Jones AM, said the third edition of Construction Law in Australia was a valuable and practical contribution to the law in the area.
