Scott Moloney is a senior associate in the commercial litigation team in the Canberra office of Clayton Utz. He regularly provides administrative law advice to a range of Commonwealth Government clients. He has acted for the Department of Defence, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

In addition to non-contentious matters, Scott also conducts portfolio litigation on behalf of his clients in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court, including appearing at applications and hearings as counsel. His experience includes defending applications for merits review of administrative decisions made by Comcare, DVA, Defence and DIAC, as well as defending applications for judicial review of administrative decisions made by Defence and DIAC.

Scott is also a Legal Officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserves, providing advice to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members on a wide range of legal issues, including criminal law. He also undertakes legal reviews of a wide range of inquiry officer reports, including reports into serious and complex issues on behalf of the Inspector-General Australian Defence Force, and the Directorate of Military Administrative Law.

Before joining Clayton Utz, Scott worked with another Australian law firm for eight years, practising mainly in the area of Government law and litigation. He has also previously worked as an Assistant General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel, The Defence Legal Service.
