Australia: A year like no other for Middletons Transport, Logistics & Defence group winning another global award
Last Updated: 16 January 2011

Having recently won the ACQ magazine Shipping & Maritime Law Firm of the Year Award for Australia, today Middletons has been named the Corporate Intl Magazine Maritime Law Firm of the Year in Australia. This caps off a remarkable year following the firm being named the BRW ANZ Private Business of the Year for 2010.

According to Corporate Intl, "The 2010 Awards have commemorated those who have been active over the past 12 months and who have shown excellence not only in expertise but in service and during a difficult global economic downturn." Firms were then shortlisted and reviewed by an independent awards panel.

Middletons' Head of Transport, Logistics and Defence, Stephen Thompson said, "This again recognises the hard work of Middletons' national team and all our dedicated lawyers and support staff. As with the ACQ award this latest accolade is particularly pleasing as we did not self-nominate, and therefore the recognition is driven by our clients and peers."

Mr Thompson added, "Middletons has achieved many successes for our clients over the past year and the team feels honoured to be recognised in this way."

Corporate Intl provide the following further explanation of the awards - "Our awards therefore merit leading firms in their chosen specialisms throughout the world and as Corporate INTL magazine is read by business leaders, investors and advisers globally it's a huge accolade for those firms that are awarded as winners in their chosen categories."

Mr Thompson said, "For over 100 years, Middletons' dedicated Transport group has been a leader in maritime law. In more recent times we have pursued a strategy of providing full service to the broader transport, logistics and defence sectors. The awards we have received this year reflect the market's reaction to that strategy and the success of our national "one-stop" solution providing commercial, straight talking, multi-jurisdictional advice on all aspects of transport from finance and tax, port development, insurance, industrial relations, OH&S and environmental pollution."

The UK based, Corporate Intl magazine is sent to 70,000 subscribers globally and readership sits at 125,000.
