Australia: Corrs set to expand and strengthen IP offering with new partner appointment
Last Updated: 11 September 2017

Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australia's leading independent law firm, is set to expand and strengthen its Intellectual Property team with the appointment of David Fixler as Partner, based in Melbourne.

David rejoins Corrs from King & Wood Mallesons and will focus on patent litigation matters, in which he has significant experience, while also advising clients across the complete range of IP rights. David acts for both domestic and international clients across a wide range of industries and sectors including pharmaceuticals, mining, water filtration, fast moving consumer goods, health insurance, IT and steel.

David had been with Corrs for seven years before moving to KWM almost two years ago as a Senior Associate.

"David was a very well-respected and well-liked lawyer when at Corrs and we are delighted he has chosen to rejoin the firm," said Corrs Partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO.

"Much of David's work has been on high profile litigation for international clients, so he recognises the benefits for his clients of our unique position as one of Australia's premium independent firms.

"David also clearly understands the commercial imperatives of a wide range of clients and the challenges they confront every day. He appreciates the vital importance of having a deep understanding his clients' businesses and developing the best possible legal strategy to serve their commercial objectives.

"His appointment is a clear indication of our firm's commitment to our strategic objective of continuing to build a deep and extensive practice with partners acknowledged as leaders in the Australian IP litigation market," Mr Denton concluded.

David's appointment follows another recent addition to Corrs IP practice; Partner Jürgen Bebber, IP and trade mark specialist, who joined the firm in May this year.
