Norton Rose Fulbright further grows national corporate team with senior Sydney hires

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today announced further appointments in Australia for its national corporate team, welcoming another new partner and a special counsel with deep industry and cross-border experience.

Jasmine Sprange

Clayton Utz's Jasmine Sprange will join as a Sydney corporate partner, bringing with her vast experience in domestic and cross-border M&A across the financial services, infrastructure and real estate sectors.

Her M&A work extends to corporates and funds, acquisitions and restructuring, regulatory issues involving the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and Foreign Investment Review Board, and joint ventures. She has advised some of Australia's largest financial services groups along with global private equity firms and financial sponsors. Ms Sprange will join in October this year.

Paul O'Donnell

Ashurst's Paul O'Donnell is another new hire for the Sydney corporate team, specialising in tax. Joining as a special counsel, he has expertise in income tax; structured, asset and project financing; and debt restructuring.

Mr O'Donnell also has significant experience advising on the corporate tax affairs of Australian and foreign owned banking groups, with an emphasis on business and investment banking and funds management. He will also join in October this year.

These two new corporate hires follow the appointment of experienced corporate M&A partners Martin Irwin in Sydney (in July) and Adam Edelman in Perth (joining in September this year); and the promotion to the partnership on July 1 of Sydney-based M&A lawyer Raymond Lou, and on January 1 of Melbourne-based M&A lawyer Jyoti Singh.

Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner in Australia, Wayne Spanner, commented:

"Our national corporate team continues to attract high quality senior lawyers from across the profession with deep experience in domestic and cross-border work for many of our core areas of industry focus.

"The addition of Jasmine and Paul to our national corporate team in Sydney will bolster our offering to clients across financial institutions, infrastructure and real estate. They also join at an exciting time for our firm as we continue to strengthen our position in local, regional and global markets."

Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has announced ten other lateral partners since January 2016. The firm also promoted ten new partners to the Australian practice in the past year: Raymond Lou, Matt Ellis, James Morris, Jyoti Singh, Jeffery Black, Ben Davis, Georgina Hey, John Moran, Tim Mornane and Meriel Steadman.
