Cayman Islands: Intertrust Appointed Main Sponsor Of The London City Swim
Last Updated: 25 August 2017

London – Intertrust N.V. ("Intertrust"), a leading global provider of high-value trust, corporate and fund services, announces that it has been appointed as the main sponsor of London City Swim. The charity event will take place for the first time on 22 September and involves a unique open water swim at London's historic Royal Victoria Docks – one of the city's most well-known locations.

  • First time the charity event is held in London
  • Swimmers of all levels from across the City will participate to raise awareness of Motor Neuron Disease
  • Intertrust invites companies from across the City to participate in support of the event

The London City Swim hopes to increase awareness and raise funds for Motor Neuron Disease (MND), internationally known as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

The open water competition aims to attract around 500 swimmers who, in teams of four, will take part in a 500 metre race. The fastest swimmers from the team event will then compete against each other in a 200 metre sprint.

The money raised from the event will be used to support Project MiNE - a major international genome research project to understand the genetic basis of MND. This understanding is fundamental to the search for effective treatments. The event and Project MiNE are supported by the Stephen Hawking Foundation and the MND Association.

David de Buck, Chief Executive Officer at Intertrust, commented: "We are very proud to support the first London City Swim and help to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neuron Disease in the UK. We all feel strongly about this cause - we have a number of Intertrust participants, including our very own Executive Committee taking part in the event. And, we'd like to encourage firms across London to put forward swimmers of all levels and to come and join us in September for what will be a fantastic day."

This is the first year the charity swim will be hosted in London. The event originated in Amsterdam and takes place there annually. It has also taken place in New York. For more information, please visit
