United States: Womble Carlyle’s Loryn Buckner Honored With Winston<40 Leadership Award
Last Updated: August 21 2017

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Womble Carlyle attorney Loryn Buckner has been honored with the 2017 Winston<40 Leadership Award, presented by the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce.

Buckner is one of only 20 honorees out of more than 150 nominations. The Winston<40 Leadership Awards recognize outstanding young professionals that are actively influencing the growth, prosperity and quality of life in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

Buckner focuses her legal practice on defending R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Engle progeny cases in Florida as well as guiding industry insurance clients through complex litigation.  Before law school, she spent five years at Bank of America, where she monitored policy and procedure compliance.

In the community, Buckner serves on the Winston <40 Board of Directors. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Work Family Resource Center, which is a private, non-profit organization that provides consumer education, referrals and resources to promote quality child care in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area. Her community service experience includes serving as a tutor at the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission and with the Winston-Salem Chamber's Corporate Volunteer Program.  Buckner also has volunteered her time and talents with Second Harvest Food Bank and the North Carolina Bar Association's Lawyer on the Line pro bono program, which provides basic legal advice to Legal Aid clients in need.

This is the fourth consecutive year that a Womble Carlyle attorney has been honored with the Winston<40 Leadership Award.  Sonny Haynes and Jonathan Reich won in 2014 and 2015 respectively, while Christa Burger was honored last year.

Winners will be honored at an Oct. 5 ceremony at the Forsyth Country Club, and also will be recognized in a special section of the Winston-Salem Journal on Oct. 8.
