Last Updated: August 19 2017

HERSHEY, PA.—Womble Carlyle attorney Morgan Patterson was a speaker at the 13th Annual Mid-Atlantic Bankruptcy Workshop, presented by the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Patterson took part in a panel discussion titled "A Unique Peek Inside Municipal Bankruptcy Cases." This panel reviewed some of the unique aspects of municipal bankruptcy cases, including the use of mediators, the role of a creditors' committee and how committee professionals can be compensated, the involvement of state and federal laws and precedent for municipal bankruptcies, and the uncharted territory of Puerto Rico's insolvency, as well as the potential impact on financially troubled states.

She was joined by Cate Long of the Puerto Rico Clearinghouse. Chicago attorney Robert Fishman moderated the discussion. The panel discussion took place August 4.

Morgan Patterson's practice focuses on bankruptcy and creditor's rights in complex chapter 11 proceedings.  Patterson represents both debtors and a variety of secured and unsecured creditors. She is also experienced in representing liquidating trusts and official committees. She practices in Womble Carlyle's Wilmington, Del. office.
