Last Updated: 14 August 2017

Global law firm Clyde & Co has today announced the appointment of Matthew Heywood as a partner in its Global Projects & Construction practice. Matthew will be based in the firm's Dubai office, making him the sixth specialist construction partner in the firm's market-leading construction practice in the Middle East.

Matthew previously led the Construction Disputes and Middle East group at Osborne Clarke in London. Prior to that, he spent 5 years in Dubai with the construction group of another international law firm.

Matthew is a leading disputes lawyer with over 15 years of experience. He specialises in contentious construction, particularly complex cases with multiple parties. He advises clients across the Middle East on the resolution of disputes arising out of major infrastructure projects. He is also highly experienced in providing clients with project specific counsel and risk management advice throughout the project lifecycle, resulting in him being listed as a Notable Practitioner in Chambers & Partners.

Michael Grose, Partner at Clyde & Co's office in Dubai, comments: "We're delighted to have someone with Matthew's expertise and track record joining the firm and our global projects and construction group. Bringing Matthew on board continues the growth of our practice in the Middle East and, as the region remains committed to investing in building and infrastructure, it positions the practice to benefit further from the market-leading reputation it has built over the last two decades."

Matthew Heywood comments: "I'm thrilled to be joining a firm with such an extensive global platform and strong projects and construction team. Clyde & Co's unrivalled infrastructure and disputes offering in the Middle East will help me boost my practice in the region, whether for domestic or international contractors."
