Australia: Marque launches Marriage Equality Campaign – Two People
Last Updated: 2 August 2017

Hi, this is a special message from Marque to everyone we know. Today we launched a campaign for marriage equality in Australia, targeting the legal community with the purpose of getting lawyers and those who work in the law to put our voices together and speak up for equality before the law.

We've called it "Two People" because the simple thing which Parliament needs to get its act together and do is replace the words "a man and a woman" in the Marriage Act with "two people". That's it – it is seriously that simple.

Whatever else it may be, marriage equality is an issue of law – the fundamental proposition of equality before the law. As lawyers and guardians of the law, we believe we need to speak up for legal principle, so that's what we're doing.

Our campaign is non-political and non-ideological. It's purely about equality and the kind of society we want ours to be.

The campaign is based at We encourage you to have a look and spread the word to everyone you know who is connected to the law. And sign up!

As a law firm, we believe this is an important part of our role in society – to advocate for the law, including getting it changed when it's wrong. We're proudly outspoken on this subject, and we will keep going until this particular wrong is made right.
