New Zealand: Chapman Tripp lawyer a Woman of Influence
Last Updated: 20 July 2017

Chapman Tripp solicitor Rez Gardi is a finalist in this year's Women of Influence 2017 Awards.

Organisers Fairfax Media and Westpac announced finalists last Tuesday. The awards celebrate women's professional and personal successes, with categories including arts and culture, board and management, business enterprise, community/not for profit, diversity, global, innovation and science, public policy, rural, and young leader.

Rez, a solicitor in the firm's Auckland litigation practice, is a finalist in the global section.

"As the 2017 Young New Zealander of the Year, Rez has already made her mark assisting young people at both a national level and a global scale," said Chapman Tripp Wellington managing partner Andy Nicholls.

"We are proud of what Rez has achieved, and she is well and truly set on a path of making a significant impact – both in New Zealand and internationally for youth and refugees."

Rez recently formalised the establishment of a youth-led led charitable organisation created to enable and educate refugee youth and other marginalised youth in New Zealand, called Empower. Rez is also a founding member of the Global Youth Advisory Council (GYAC) for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Nicholls said.

"GYAC, while still in formation stages, has a clear mandate: to ensure youth are involved in decision-making in a real and meaningful way on a global level."
