Australia: [Friends of Madgwicks Seminar Invitation] How can I protect my property? How to protect your intangible property rights to sunlight
Last Updated: 19 July 2017

Many Australians are turning to solar power in droves. 1.6 million properties around Australia have solar panels and this number is expected to double over the next few years and many assume that they will always have access to the necessary sunlight. However this is not necessarily the case.

Daniel Mainzer, Lawyer, will present a succinct easy to understand overview of the law (primarily case law and building regulations) in relation to sunlight protection including the rights you may have if a proposed pesky development overshadows your panels.

Daniel will cover a range of issues including:

  • Local and state government policy issues;
  • Solar development controls in Victoria;
  • Whether easements are effective to protect your rights;
  • VCAT and case law; and
  • Compromise and negotiation.

This is sure to be an informative session. Those eligible can also receive 1 CPD point for Substantive Law.

We hope you can join us.
