Guernsey: Ogier In Guernsey Advises Burford Capital On £175 Million Bond Issue
Last Updated: 20 June 2017

Ogier has provided Guernsey and Jersey legal advice to Burford Capital Limited ("Burford Capital") on the raising of £175 million through an issue of bonds listed on the London Stock Exchange by Burford Capital PLC, a subsidiary of Burford Capital.

Burford is a leading global finance firm focused on law. Its businesses include litigation finance and risk management, asset recovery and a wide range of legal finance and advisory activities. Burford pioneered institutional-quality commercial litigation finance and has a team of over 80 in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific, who work with clients around the world.

Christopher Bogart, Burford's chief executive, commented: "Law firms and corporate clients are coming to us with needs which have evolved far beyond the single-case financing model on which this industry is founded, and which remains a core area of our business. This additional long-term capital will enable us to continue to meet the global demand for Burford's services and further solidifies our position as the industry leader with the industry's lowest cost of capital."

Partner Bryon Rees led the Ogier Guernsey team, assisted by associate Michelle Watson Bunn, and worked with lead counsel for Burford, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP.  Partner Raulin Amy assisted with Jersey law advice.

Bryon said: "We were delighted to support Burford in the successful raising of this capital. Burford continues to lead the way in this industry."
