Last Updated: 13 June 2017

ENSafrica, Africa's largest law firm, has appointed senior indirect tax specialist Anne Jenkinson as an executive in its tax department in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Anne has 37 years of experience and is regarded as a South African leading value-added tax ("VAT") specialist, having provided consulting and regulatory advice to prominent clients in a range of industries, including banking and financial services, telecommunications, mining, construction and pharmaceuticals. Anne also has extensive cross-border and international VAT experience.

Mzi Mgudlwa, chief executive of ENSafrica, said: "We are delighted that Anne has chosen to join ENSafrica. Her significant African and international tax expertise will be a valuable asset to our clients, enabling us to bolster our already strong tax offering and provide clients with a greater depth of indirect tax services."

ENSafrica's indirect tax practice offers specialist advisory services across all industries, including specialist VAT rulings, VAT dispute resolution, transaction advisory and due diligence reviews, VAT apportionment, and integrated solutions that combine VAT and other services such as customs and transfer pricing.

Prior to joining ENSafrica, Anne was a senior VAT partner and head of indirect tax for financial services at a large multinational professional services firm. Previously, she held the position of senior VAT specialist at the South African Revenue Service for over a decade and was also formerly a senior VAT specialist for HMRC, the United Kingdom Revenue Authority, where she was responsible for managing the account for the UK's largest payer of VAT, among others.

Joint head of ENSafrica's tax department, Bernard du Plessis, said: "We are excited at the expanded offering we will be able to provide our clients as a result of having Anne as part of the team. This means that our clients can expect to continue having a distinct competitive edge through our combination of unique areas of specialisation with extensive African and international experience and an innovative, solution-driven approach."

Otsile Matlou, ENSafrica's chief operating officer in charge of practice integration, added: "Combining Anne's significant expertise with that of the rest of the team enables us to continue providing our clients with world-class tax services wherever they do business across Africa."

ENSafrica is an independent law firm with over 100 years of experience. The firm has over 600 practitioners in 15 offices on the continent, in Ghana, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
