A lien is the right to retain possession of somebody else's property as security for a debt.. Liens can be a very effective tool to obtain payment of outstanding amounts, but can also be problematic if wrongly claimed or exercised. To hold someone else's goods without a legal entitlement to do so can result in significant claims for damages. It is imperative that a party seeking to exercise a lien does, in fact, have a valid lien.

This webinar will consider:

What is a lien?
What is the difference between a contractual lien and a statutory lien?
What legislation governs liens?
What factors need to be considered when exercising a lien?

This webinar will be of benefit to road transport and warehouse operators and their advisers. We hope you will be able to join us.
