Last Updated: May 15 2017

TYSONS CORNER, VA.—Womble Carlyle's D.C. and Northern Virginia offices are strong supporters of the Association of Corporate Counsel National Capital Region, and the firm joined with the in-house counsel organization for two events in early May.

On May 2, Womble Carlyle's Northern Virginia office played host to the ACC National Capital Chapter Small Law Department Forum. The forum's topic was "More than a Cost Center—Positioning the Small In-House Department as Trusted Partner and Value Creator."

The interactive discussion focused on the practical aspects of how to build more effective, collaborative relationships between legal and business leaders, to identify impediments and ways to overcome them, and the benefits that can accrue both to the business and to in-house departments serving their clients.

Womble Carlyle attorney Todd Harris facilitated the discussion, along with Steve Sherman, General Counsel – Americas, BSI and Erik Feig, former General Counsel of MRIS.

Attorney Andy Tucker and Director of Client Service Cameron Hunt also participated in the Small Law Department Forum.

In addition, the firm sponsored a May 4 Happy Hour event to support the ACC National Capital Chapter's Lawyers Have Heart running team. On June 10, the team will take part in the annual Lawyers Have Heart 10K race in Washington, D.C. to benefit the American Heart Association.

Hunt and Womble Carlyle attorneys Nanda Alapati and Dean Rutley participated in the May 4th event.
