United States: Womble Carlyle’s Jay Landrum Speaks On Art Licensing At Artexpo New York
Last Updated: May 8 2017

NEW YORK—Artistic talent is just one attribute required for success in the world of professional art. Artists, agents, publishers, manufacturers and gallery owners also must understand how to take their creations to market.

Womble Carlyle attorney Jay Landrum took part in a panel discussion on "Understanding Art Licensing" at Artexpo New York. Landrum and the panel examined what art professionals need to know before entering into a licensing agreement. The discussion took place April 24.

Landrum also distributed his book, The Artist's Survival Guide: A Pocket Guide to Art Law, to every exhibitor at the event.

More than 25,000 gallery owners and managers, art dealers, interior designers, architects, corporate art buyers and art & framing retailers attended this year's Artexpo New York, making it the largest international gathering of qualified trade buyers. This year, the works of more than 400 artists were on display at New York's Pier 94.

Jay Landrum's current corporate practice emphasizes business transactions, including entity formation, buy sell agreements, and financing transactions (venture, private and debt), as well as day-to-day legal representation.  He also has extensive experience in contracts and licensing. Landrum practices in Womble Carlyle's Silicon Valley office.
