Last Updated: April 27 2017

Toronto (April 21, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that the Honourable Louise Arbour, CC, GOQ, has been honoured by the Public Policy Forum at its 30th Annual Testimonial Dinner & Awards, held last night in Toronto and hosted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Testimonial Dinner pays tribute to distinguished leaders who have made outstanding contributions to the quality of public policy and good governance. This year, to mark Canada's 150th anniversary, the Public Policy Forum recognized newcomers to Canada active in using public policy to improve the country and Canadians who have gone abroad to improve the world.

Madam Arbour, jurist in residence at BLG, was recently appointed as Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on International Migration in New York City. Previously, Madam Arbour sat as a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1999 to 2004, on the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Supreme Court of Ontario. She was President and CEO of the International Crisis Group and has held senior positions for the United Nations, including that of High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Madam Arbour previously received a Marcel Côté Award for Leadership in Public Policy from the Public Policy Forum in September 2016.
