Guernsey: Schroders Private Banking Tastes Awards Success
Last Updated: 23 March 2009

Schroders Private Banking has won two of the eleven categories at the Private Asset Management (PAM) Awards 2009.

The bank, which has operations in Guernsey, Jersey and London, scooped top spot for High Net Worth (HNW) Image and Reputation and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) Overall Client Service Quality. In the process it became the only firm from an eclectic list of contenders to claim more than one category.

"During these turbulent times commendable client service is of significant importance. First-rate client communications, counselling and advice can all help diminish the impact of falling markets," said Julian Winser, CEO for Schroders in the Channel Islands,

"We are delighted our endeavours to operate in a proactive manner have been acknowledged by the industry. There is no question our ability to communicate provides sizeable additional value to our clients. This, combined with our long history, allows both our existing and new clients to benefit from a steady hand on the tiller."

The PAM Awards have become the established benchmark that acknowledges the best in the UK private asset management market. This year a record 42 firms completed the entry process. The judging panel included most of the UK’s leading experts in the private client investment consulting market and among them were Channel Islanders Roderick Balfour, Graham Harrison, Euan Dangerfield, David Nolan and James Day.

Peter Niven, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance – the promotional agency for the Island’s finance industry, said: "Many congratulations to Schroders for this excellent achievement. Winning two categories at such a high profile and well respected awards ceremony is a clear indication of the way in which the firm has developed into a leader within the private asset management community.

"It is also very good news for Guernsey. This success demonstrates the quality of our private banking industry. The sector has been a solid foundation of our standing as a leading international finance centre and with providers like Schroders offering such high standards of service then I believe we will see continued success in this business area long into future."

During the past decade Schroders has improved its range of services. This investment has been successful in terms of market positions and growing volume of new money.

In the autumn of 2008 Schorders was twice nominated at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards as the UK Private Bank of the Year and Asset Management Firm of the Year for HNWs. It was also listed as a finalist for Best Medium Sized Business at the Guernsey Awards for Achievement.
