Australia: Norton Rose Fulbright advises financiers on Bodangora wind farm project in NSW
Last Updated: 6 April 2017

Norton Rose Fulbright has advised financiers Clean Energy Finance Corporation and Nord LB on the financing of the Bodangora wind farm near Wellington in regional NSW.

The project has been developed by Infigen and is to be built by a joint venture of GE and CATCON. It is also supported by an offtake agreement with Energy Australia for 60 per cent of the output of the project to 2030.

The financiers' $163 million construction facility will help spur the delivery of the $236 million, 113MW Bodangora project. The wind farm reached financial close on March 31, 2017.

Norton Rose Fulbright partner and co-head of infrastructure, Jo Crew, commented:

"The renewable energy sector in NSW and elsewhere in Australia has serious momentum now and it is pleasing to see a real diversity in the range of projects being developed. We have been involved in a host of wind farm projects in Australia in recent years, which has allowed us to bring together our depth of experience advising financial institutions, energy and infrastructure organisations for the benefit of our clients."

The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by Jo Crew with support from special counsel Joanna Taylor, senior associate Claire Whitney, and associates Celia Boyle and Sarah Mulcahy.

The Norton Rose Fulbright Australian energy team is currently working on a large pipeline of wind and large scale solar projects across Australia.

Our role on the recently announced Manildra Solar Farm follows our work advising Wirsol Energy Ltd on the acquisition and financing of the 57.5MW Whitsunday project (Queensland), the 57.5MW Hamilton project (Queensland), and the 50MW Gannawarra project (Victoria) that achieved financial close on March 10, 2017. It also follows our role advising CWP and Partners Group on the development and financing of the 270MW Sapphire wind project.
