Jersey: Ogier Partner Speaking On Changing Asset-Tracing Landscape At INSOL Event
Last Updated: 28 March 2017

Ogier partner Rachael Reynolds is speaking about cross-border investigations and asset-tracing at the INSOL conference for restructuring and insolvency professionals in Sydney on Sunday.

Rachael is one of six Ogier partners from the firm's BVI, Cayman, Guernsey, Hong Kong and Jersey offices attending the event, which is one of the biggest international conferences for insolvency professionals from around the globe.

INSOL – the international Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals – has more than 10,000 members across 40 local associations. The four-day Sydney event will be attended by lawyers, accountants, regulators, insurers and debt traders.

Rachael's session covers "Cross-border investigation, asset-tracing and recovery: practical considerations" and will review the current landscape in terms of onshore and offshore limits on confidentiality and cross-border recognition – and whether proposed moves in the light of last year's Panama Papers scandal towards public or private registers of beneficial ownership are feasible or helpful.

Rachael said: "The session will look at the practical issues that professionals face in tracing assets and investigating wrongdoing both onshore and offshore, and how this is impacted by the changing landscape of regulation, confidentiality legislation and international cooperation."

Rachael, who heads the  Dispute Resolution team for the Caribbean and Asian regions will be attending along with dispute resolution partners Brian Lacy (BVI), Mathew Newman (Guernsey), Ray Ng and Oliver Payne (Hong Kong) and Nigel Sanders (Jersey).
