Cooper Grace Ward invites you to attend this interactive seminar, which will provide employers with an overview of the workers' compensation process from statutory claim through to common law actions.

As part of our journey Brady Cockburn, from our insurance team, will discuss why claims arise and how they can be avoided. He will also challenge some of the common myths associated with workers' compensation claims including:

  • claimants receive too much compensation
  • small impairment; big award
  • claimants choose not to work to maximise payouts
  • employers are required to compensate in respect of pre-existing injuries
  • employing injured workers is risky
  • workers can be personally liable.

Annie Smeaton from our workplace relations team will then provide an update on reasonable management action including some recent court decisions.

You will come away with a clearer understanding of the realities of the current legal environment and the most appropriate strategies to implement to protect the business.

We hope you will be able to join us.
