Bermuda: Appleby Raises Funds Towards Radiotherapy Equipment
Last Updated: 17 February 2017

The Isle of Man office of leading offshore law firm Appleby has donated more than £800 to the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group to assist with the purchase of specialist radiotherapy equipment.

Every year Kate Shimmin, Legal Secretary in Appleby's Corporate department, invites colleagues at the Douglas office to nominate a charity and make donations in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

The latest appeal raised £820 for the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, with Appleby employee's donating £570 and £250 being contributed by the Appleby Charitable Foundation.

The Appleby Charitable Foundation was established in 2011 with the aim of giving back to the community, including encouraging Appleby employees to raise money for charities by matching efforts pound-for-pound up to a value of £250.

This year's donations will assist the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group purchase Intrabeam Intra-operative Radiotherapy equipment, which will reduce the number of patients having to travel off-Island for certain treatments.
