United Arab Emirates: Clyde & Co Expands Its Shipping Team In MENA With New Partner Hire
Last Updated: 15 February 2017

Global law firm Clyde & Co has expanded its shipping practice with the addition of Ian Chung, joining as Partner in its Dubai office.

Ian brings a wealth of transactional, non-contentious experience to Clyde & Co which will complement the firm's existing contentious shipping/transportation and offshore marine practice in the Middle East.

Ian has worked in the Middle East since 2008 where he specialises in corporate and finance work in the international trade, maritime and oilfield services sectors. He joins from Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) in Dubai where he was a Partner in the firm's Corporate Group.

Ian acts for regional and international financiers and operators and has been involved in and led many of the largest transactions in those sectors in recent years.

Ian comments: "With a strong heritage in shipping, I am honoured to be joining Clyde & Co which has an outstanding global reputation and a market-leading shipping and asset finance practice in the Middle East.  I am excited about Clyde & Co's growth plans in the region, as well as the opportunity to work with the firm's broad and diverse client base and to collaborate with colleagues in Southeast Asia and Europe as part of my practice."

Christopher Jobson, Lead Partner of Clyde & Co's Shipping practice in the Middle East comments: "I am delighted to welcome Ian to the firm where he will provide our clients with significant shipping and asset finance expertise from his 8 years' regional experience. We see this as an exceptional investment in our shipping practice which will be greatly strengthened by Ian's non-contentious and asset finance experience."

Clyde & Co has 4 partners and 16 lawyers in its Middle East Shipping practice and is consistently ranked Band 1 for Shipping in the UAE by Chambers Global and Legal 500.  With specialist marine expertise based on-the-ground in its Abu Dhabi, Doha, Dubai and Riyadh offices, Clyde & Co can fully service clients in the marine industry across the entire region.
