Australia: Corrs crowned number one law firm in Australia and APAC by The Legal 500
Last Updated: 9 February 2017

Australia's leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has taken out the top spot in both Australia and the Asia Pacific in the latest client research report by The Legal 500.

In a strong endorsement of Corrs' strategy to remain a client-driven, independent firm, the Australian in-house legal community scored the firm highly across all three of the key performance indicators, including client relationship skills, technical legal ability, and project management.

"This research demonstrates that Corrs' commitment to truly understand our clients and their business needs is resonating," said Corrs Partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO.

"We invest an incredible amount of time and resources into listening to our clients, studying their businesses, understanding the challenges they face, and helping them see around corners. We go beyond the traditional expectations of a law firm to ensure that we are offering our clients not just first class legal advice, but a partnership and commitment to helping them achieve success – both on a national and global scale.

"The firm's ranking as the number one law firm in both Australia and Asia Pacific is testament to the fact that we can offer our clients the best insights and solutions in Australia, while also delivering them with the very best results offshore. We are incredibly proud to have pioneered our own independent, international strategy which has brought significant benefits to our clients," he added.

The Legal 500 Client Intelligence Report is a comprehensive investigation into the global legal market that includes the feedback of 9,096 in-house lawyers and clients respondents in 118 countries. In Australia, The Legal 500 surveyed 226 general counsel from companies primarily in the financial, energy, industrials and retail sectors, whose collective spend on law firms is around AU$3.2 billion a year. The survey data was gathered in the three months to June 2016.
