Canada: Howard Black Will Be Part Of A Panel On Trust Issues At STEP Event

Howard Black will be part of a panel titled "Case law and the potpourri of trust issues" at the upcoming STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) seminar. He will be speaking alongside Justin de Vries from de Vries Litigation LLP and Timothy Youdan from Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP. Ian Lebane of TD Wealth Managment will moderate. The presentation will cover:

  • Developments in the valuation of interests in discretionary trusts in the family law context: from Sagl to Tremblay; Where are we and where are we going?
  • Pour over trusts in wills: When might they work for Canadian Estates? Discussion will include the implications of the Kellogg Estate case.
  • Other case law developments in the trusts area relevant to your practice will be canvassed.
