Cayman Islands: Conyers Strengthens Litigation Practice In Cayman
Last Updated: 29 December 2016

Conyers is delighted to welcome Bernadette Carey back to the Cayman office.

Bernadette joins the Litigation and Private Client teams as Counsel. She has extensive expertise as a litigator, appearing regularly before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and advising on a number of cross-border insolvency and private client disputes in her previous role at the Firm from 2008-2012.

"Demand for our litigation services continues to increase", said Paul Smith, Partner & Head of Litigation in the Cayman Islands. "Bernadette's knowledge and skill-set will make great impact, allowing us to service a wider audience, and build on our reputation for first-rate advisory services across our Litigation and Private Client Teams".

After returning to Australia and New Zealand in 2012, Bernadette advised clients on a variety of general commercial litigation cases, including contractual disputes, insolvency proceedings and assisted private client and high net worth individuals in relation to a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters including trust disputes.

Kevin Butler, Partner & Head of the Cayman Islands Office added, "We are pleased to have Bernadette re-join our Cayman team. Her range of expertise and international experience will play a key role in growing our Litigation and Private Client practices".

Over the years, Bernadette has authored numerous published articles on international developments in trusts law and has been recommended as a leading contentious trusts lawyer in previous global editions of The Legal 500. She is also a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) and an International Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel.
