Canada: Calgary Herald Interviews Seán O’Neill
Last Updated: November 21 2016

We are delighted that McCarthy Tétrault partner Seán O'Neill has been quoted in a recent article by Reid Southwick and Chris Varcoe of the Calgary Herald. In the interview, Seán discusses the potential impact of Alberta's NDP government enacting retroactive legislation to change or invalidate the change of law provisions in Alberta coal-fired generation power purchase arrangements.

Specifically, Seán's comments focus on the impact that retroactive legislation could have on participants' risk and pricing assessments and decisions about whether to participate in Alberta Electric System Operator's (AESO) Renewable Electricity Program (REP).

The Calgary Herald article can be found here. Further information and comments on the draft key provisions for the Renewable Electricity Support Agreement (RESA) can be found in Seán and Kimberly Howard's blog post. The AESO has invited stakeholders to provide comments on the RESA key provisions by December 9, 2016.
