Cayman Islands: Ogier's Global Head Of Dispute Resolution To Speak At Legal Week International Private Client Forum
Last Updated: 9 November 2016

Ogier's Global Head of Dispute Resolution will be speaking about the role of "Firewall" provisions in trust law and whether they can stand up to legal challenges at a prestigious private client forum in Italy next week.

Partner Rachael Reynolds will discuss offshore firewall legislation on Thursday 10 November at the Legal Week International Private Client Forum event at Lake Como – the event is headlined "Wealth in the Age of Extremism".

It is almost 30 years since the introduction of the concept of "Firewall" provisions in offshore trust laws – amendments which require any challenge or questions about a trust to be dealt with in its "home" jurisdiction, and which insulate trusts from challenges from forced heirs and those pursuing claims based on relationships with the settlor.

Firewall provisions now exist in the trust laws of Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey – three leading trusts jurisdictions.

Rachael will be joined for the discussion by Catherine Pugsley of Harcus Sinclair.
