Luxembourg: TMF Group launches the first Luxembourg RAIF platform
Last Updated: 3 November 2016

TMF Luxembourg is pleased to announce the launch of the first Luxembourg RAIF platform for a broad range of asset classes including private equity, real estate and debt funds.

TMF Group, a leading provider of global business services is pleased to announce the launch of the first Luxembourg Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF) platform, which is expected to prove attractive to a broad range of asset classes including private equity, real estate and debt funds.

The platform offers non-EU and EU managers a fast, cost-effective, simple and robust way to access European investor capital. It was established following the entry of the Reserved Alternative Investment Fund (RAIF) Law in July of this year, and TMF Luxembourg worked alongside Crestbridge with the assistance of Charles Russell Speechlys for the legal structuring. ING will act as depository to the platform.

Under the new RAIF regime, the regulatory focus lies with the Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM) rather than each individual fund requiring regulatory approval. This allows non-EU managers to quickly and efficiently set up funds under the supervision of the pre-authorised manager.

The Luxembourg RAIF as a product is unprecedented in the market as the law combines the advantage of the existing regulated fund regime with segregation of risk, and fast implementation.

The RAIF law makes use of well-known criteria regarding eligible investors, passporting and a tax regime from the existing SIF and SICAR regimes.

Bruno Bagnouls, Global Head of Alternative Investments at TMF Group said:

"Being the first to market in Luxembourg with a new RAIF platform is very exciting and reflects our innovative approach of providing cost-efficient, ready-to-use solutions to alternative fund managers looking to invest in Luxembourg. It is also a great pleasure to be able to work closely with our existing network of Crestbridge as ManCo and ING as depositary."

Jan Lubawinski, Managing Director of TMF Fund Services (Luxembourg) S.A. added:

"TMF Group's global network of more than 80 countries means we can assist multiple strategies and asset classes with a RAIF Platform. This solution is suitable for niche alternative investment strategies as well as for our core client-offering of global private equity, and real estate and debt. The advantage of a short time-to-market turnaround can make all the difference when taking advantage of good investment opportunities."
