United States: We Have Some Big News...
Last Updated: October 18 2016

A Message From Mark Cantor

Today is a very exciting day for Brooks Kushman. We are pleased to announce that we have fulfilled a long term goal and are opening a new office in Washington D.C. We look forward to providing the same excellent service our clients have come to expect from our Los Angeles and Southfield, MI offices in our nation's capital. Patent prosecution and post-grant proceedings account for a significant portion of our practice and our attorneys regularly interface with the Patent Office and appear before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Having an office near the PTAB office will allow us to better serve our clients.

We are also elated to announce that Lissi Mojica will be joining Brooks Kushman as a principal, and will be a cornerstone piece to our Washington D.C. office. We are honored to have Lissi join our growing team. She is incredibly well respected within the intellectual property community, and has played an integral role in shaping the current post-grant proceedings system in the United States. Nearly 20 years ago, she launched the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU) to safeguard the quality and consistency of reexamination proceedings and to reduce pendency. As the CRU's first director, Lissi oversaw thousands of reexamination proceedings and laid the foundation for the adoption of AIA post-grant review.

To date, Brooks Kushman has been involved in over 60 post-grant proceedings . Lissi will be a wonderful addition to our growing post-grant proceedings practice, as we've had the pleasure of working with Lissi on several post-grant challenges over the last two years.

The additions of the D.C. office and Lissi as a principal are direct results of the great work from our current attorneys and staff. Their dedication to the firm's success as well as the success of the surrounding communities is evidence of their commitment to excellence. I look forward to continued growth and expansion for both our firm and our clients in the coming years.
