Australia: Norton Rose Fulbright further grows employment and labour team with new partner
Last Updated: 17 September 2016

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright announced today that experienced employment and labour partner Katherine Morris has joined as a partner in Sydney. This follows the appointment in July of employment and labour partner Samantha Maddern in our Perth office.

Ms Morris returns to our firm after a stint in 2005 to 2008. She will join from Gadens, where she has been a partner in the employment and safety team.

Ms Morris has successfully defended several large clients involved in high profile health and safety prosecutions. She has strong experience across a range of industries, including construction, property, road, rail, energy and resources.

Highly respected by her peers, she has been listed as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific directory in 2014 and 2015, and as one of Australia's Best Lawyers in occupational health and safety in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Norton Rose Fulbright managing partner in Australia, Wayne Spanner, said Ms Morris' appointment, along with the addition last month of Samantha Maddern, represented a significant investment in our national employment and labour offering.

"Katherine has an enviable track record defending major workplace, health and safety matters for an impressive list of clients across several of our industry focus areas, such as construction, property and energy. Although she is well known in the Sydney market, we expect she will make a big contribution to our national occupational health and safety team. It's also a strong endorsement of our culture that, having worked here some years ago, she is eager to return to further her career."

Ms Morris commented:

"I have watched Norton Rose Fulbright's transformation over recent years into a leading global law firm. I'm looking forward to working with old and new colleagues and bringing to my clients the benefit of services from an established global player in the Australian market."

Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has added six other lateral partners since January 2016: Peter Lamont, Ellen Thomas, Jacques Jacobs, Samantha Kelly, Peter Bowden and Samantha Maddern.
