Australia: Corrs celebrates NAIDOC Week with firm-wide activities
Last Updated: 7 July 2016

Australia's leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has collaborated with Dreamtime Art to put together a digital exhibition screened in its offices to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's NAIDOC Week theme is "Songlines: The living narrative of our nation".

In addition to the digital exhibition, Corrs is featuring a number of NAIDOC Week activities across all of its offices, including an Indigenous heritage tour in Perth, a video screening on the importance of songlines to Indigenous Australians in Melbourne, a NAIDOC picnic in Sydney, and a family fun day in Brisbane.

Corrs' NAIDOC celebrations are part of the firm's ongoing commitment to engagement and reconciliation with Australia's Indigenous peoples, said Annette Hughes, Corrs Partner and Diversity Council Chair.

"NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to highlight and celebrate the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society," said Ms Hughes.

"Corrs has a strong history of engagement and community partnerships which demonstrate our commitment to building relationships with and supporting Indigenous Australians and Reconciliation.

"The NAIDOC Week events and the Songlines theme, following on from our national cultural awareness sessions, will help to further raise awareness and understanding amongst our people about the importance of Indigenous history and culture. We are delighted to have seen so many people getting involved."

The digital exhibition compiled by Dreamtime Art includes a number of pieces by artists and sisters Sarrita and Tarisse King. Sarrita King created Corrs' stunning Reconciliation Action Plan cover artwork.

NAIDOC Week runs from 3 – 10 July 2016.
