United States: SKO’s Tom Williams Is Among Louisville Delegation To Speak “Compassion" With His Holiness The Dalai Lama
Last Updated: July 1 2016

This weekend, Stoll Keenon Ogden attorney Tom Williams will join a group of Louisvillians traveling to the 2016 U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Indianapolis.

Williams won't be discussing the finer points of employment law or even attending the Conference of Mayors. Instead, he and a Louisville contingency led by Mayor Greg Fischer will be meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Along with updating the Dalia Lama on the compassion progress continuing in Louisville, they'll discuss future initiatives, including plans for a conference with the Dalai Lama regarding Cultivating Secular Human Values, which would solidify Louisville's position as a Center for Compassionate Cities under the Charter for Compassion.

Since Mayor Fischer signed a resolution in 2011 making Louisville the largest U.S. city designated as an International Compassionate City, the community has embraced its compassionate role.

"Louisville is home to numerous individuals and organizations committed to the cause of building a compassionate city," Williams said. "I believe our story of building alliances and forging relationships can help guide and inspire other communities to grow in compassion. We have already worked with over 40 communities around the globe—we look forward to working with many more."

Williams was appointed co-chair of the Partnership for a Compassionate Louisville in 2011.
