Ireland: Tara Doyle Named Europe’s Best In Investment Funds
Last Updated: 27 June 2016

Matheson's Head of Asset Management and Investment Funds Tara Doyle has been named Europe's Best in Investment Funds 2016 by Euromoney at the Women in Business Law Awards ceremony which took place last night in London. Tara is the first Irish lawyer to win this award. This recognition cements Tara's standing and reputation in the Irish, UK and International market and the high regard in which she is held in the financial services sector.

In addition to her position on the 13-person Governing Council of the Irish funds industry's representative association, Tara is also Chair of Matheson's Trainee Liaison committee and is responsible for leading the firm's graduate recruitment strategy for Trainee and Summer Intern programmes. Tara also serves on the 30% Club Steering Council in Ireland, and is the Matheson representative on the 30% Club Professional Services Firm working group. In March 2016, Matheson announced that diversity in the workplace forms a key business initiative to ensure we support the growth and development of our existing female workforce, and to continue to attract the top talent in the future. Over 30% of Matheson's partners are women including two new female partners appointed since January 2016.

Commenting on her win, Tara said: "I am proud to be part of a firm that actively promotes and facilitates women in their professional careers, with half of the firm's core departments currently led by women."

Matheson is the only Irish law firm with a female head of investment funds practice following Tara's appointment in January of this year. The Investment Funds category included finalists from three top Irish law firms indicating the growing strength and increased reputation of the investment funds industry in Ireland. Tara heads the largest investment funds practice in Ireland, and together with her team act as legal advisers for 28% of Irish domiciled investment funds by assets under management.

Matheson was shortlisted for five Euromoney Europe Women in Business Law Awards 2016 as follows:

  • Irish Law Firm of the Year
  • Best in Banking and Finance: Libby Garvey
  • Best in Investment Funds: Tara Doyle
  • Best in Insurance and Reinsurance: Sharon Daly
  • National Firm Mentoring Programme

The awards, given by Euromoney Legal Media Group which comprises a wide range of international legal publications, recognise firms for their efforts in ensuring that women advance in the legal profession.
