Canada: Les Corvées BLG: A Fund-Raising And Volunteer Campaign To Benefit The Fondation Du Dr Julien
Last Updated: June 13 2016

Montréal, June 7, 2016 — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is proud to have supported the Fondation du Dr Julien once again this year, through both volunteer action and fundraising initiatives.

The 2016 Corvées BLG campaign was implemented in two stages. First, the firm's professionals were invited to take part in an evening benefit concert showcasing young performers from the Garage à musique orchestra, as well as some amateur musicians from BLG. Then BLG employees contributed to the campaign, and all members of the firm were invited to participate in the "work party", carrying out maintenance and site improvement tasks at the Centre de pédiatrie sociale in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve community.

"This is just the continuation of our commitment to the Fondation," said John G. Murphy, BLG's Regional Managing Partner. "Indeed, we have been supporting the work of Dr. Gilles Julien and his team for several years now, in particular by providing free legal advice to children attending the Centre de pédiatrie sociale in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve community and their families when their rights are not respected."

This undertaking by the firm is an important contribution to the Fondation. "BLG is among our most valuable partners", mentioned Dr Gilles Julien at the benefit event held on April 13. "For an organization like ours, such a partnership is essential to enable us to focus on our primary mission: empowering children to enable them to realize their full potential."

Mélanie Champagne, a partner in charge of the Corvées BLG program, states: "We are very proud of supporting the Fondation, not only through the fundraising campaign, but also by offering them a helping hand to perform tasks that are so often postponed because of limited resources. Putting together a group of lawyers and employees to help with such a project provides us with one more opportunity to demonstrate our community involvement and team spirit."

The Corvées BLG 2016 campaign enabled BLG to hand over a cheque for $30,000 to the Fondation du Dr Julien — funds that will be used to finance its many projects directed at children living in gravely vulnerable situations.
