In carrying out their daily activities, heavy transport operators must comply with numerous planning, land use and environmental obligations. Failure to do so can have very serious consequences, such as prosecution, significant fines or stop work orders, which may lead to the closure of businesses.

New Queensland environmental laws have significantly increased the investigation and prosecution powers of the Queensland Government.

In this webinar, Leanne O'Neill from our planning, land use and environment practice will set out the key impacts that operators and their advisers in the heavy transport industry will need to consider, including:

  • the duty to report and mitigate in the case of an accident causing environmental contamination or harm
  • the need for development and planning approvals
  • changes to development applications.

Leanne will also discuss recent cases we have worked on to highlight the very serious consequences of failing to comply with planning, land use and environment obligations.

We hope that you are able to join us.
