Last Updated: May 20 2016

Strasburger & Price, LLP (Strasburger) is pleased to announce that healthcare attorney Corinne Smith has joined the firm as a partner. Corinne, who was formerly Director of Legal Services for Seton Healthcare Family, will work in Strasburger's Austin office and practice with the corporate and securities group, focusing on structuring complex healthcare transactions and assisting healthcare facilities with contracting and operational matters. She also has in-depth technical knowledge of issues surrounding Stark law, Anti-Kickback, False Claims Act, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, managed care contracting, licensure and regulatory compliance.

Corinne comes to Strasburger's health group with nine years of in-house counsel practice. Prior to working at Seton, she was the Chief of Strategic Partnerships and Legal Counsel for UT Medicine, the academic faculty practice plan of the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Corinne has more than twenty years of administrative and management experience in the healthcare sector. Her experience in those executive roles included strategy and business development, merger and acquisition, financial planning, managed care negotiations, revenue cycle, compliance, academic medicine, healthcare operations, electronic medical record and financial system implementation, medical staff governance and peer review, physician credentialing, purchasing, human resources and risk management. Corinne has worked with a variety of healthcare providers including medical schools, academic facilities, hospitals, labs, pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers, cancer centers, physician practices, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

"We are delighted to add Corinne to Strasburger's healthcare industry team, noted Kevin Wood, the team's leader. " Her knowledge of the complexities involved in the industry and her experience as an in-house executive will provide first-hand insight into helping clients achieve their goals." "Corinne's arrival strengthens our corporate team and further enhances our ability to provide excellent service to our healthcare clients," added Spencer Stevens, Austin's partner- in-charge. "Her experience in both the legal and business aspects of healthcare will enable her to hit the ground running."

Corinne received her J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law in 2003. She also holds a M.S. in Healthcare Administration and a B.B.A. from Trinity University. Prior to attending law school, she worked as Director of Strategy Development and System Integration for Integris Health, an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma-based healthcare system, during a time of rapid expansion as it grew from a single freestanding hospital to a statewide integrated healthcare delivery system. Corinne is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the nation's leading professional society for healthcare leaders. While more than nine thousand healthcare executives have achieved Fellow status, approximately only eighteen attorneys across the country hold the distinction. Corinne has also served on the Advisory Council for Graduate Programs in Healthcare Administration at Trinity University and the American College of Healthcare Executives Regent's Advisory Council. She has served as the board secretary for The Care Communities and is a graduate of Leadership Austin's Essentials Class of 2015.
